Big Sable Lighthouse - Ludington, Michigan

It is officially “fools spring” in Michigan! This means that Michiganders find every way we can to get outside and enjoy the weather while we can because we know that it will be very short lived! When I saw a 60 degree day in March during a weekend and I knew that the lake was calling me and my camera. With no real plan, I packed up my photography gear, brought my husband and got on the road. Somewhere along the way, we decided a nice walk to Big Sable Lighthouse was sounding nice. It is just shy of a 4 mile walk to the lighthouse on a trail that winds between the dunes along Lake Michigan. It’s a pretty easy trail to walk, except this time the trail was covered in water and ice because of melting snow. We definitely had to “all terrain” some of our walk, but we eventually reached Big Sable! This lighthouse is one of the tallest at 112 feet high and you can bet I visited the top of it with my drone since the option to climb it was not available to us so early in the year. We were some of the only ones that took the walk to the lighthouse, seeing only a few people along the way. It was so peaceful and the scenery was second to none!
